The Cocos Islander Community has a way of celebrating the 21st day of Ramadhan. They have a night called "Ketupat Night", where the guests are served with Ketupat. What does this symbolize? The symbol square is normally associated with the earth. This could symbolize something to do with the earth or Kaaba (Kaaba is square!).
For the fun of it, everybody enjoyed eating Ketupat especially with Curry or Peanut Gravy. It goes very well with Satay, the Malaysian delicacy or a dish quite similar to the Arabian Kebab. Satay is much smaller than Kebab, which is much bigger.
After the 21st night then it is the lighting of the "Pelita" or lights from the gas container. Some uses bamboo as the container. Many people will be waiting for the Malam "Lailaturkadar", which is a special night in the month of Ramadhan promised by Allah.
