Hari Raya Korban 2009

Hari Raya Korban is just round the corner. For some it is the slaughtering of the cow or the goat, but for many it is just the prayer called Kondangan to celebrate Hari Raya Korban or Hari Raya Haji.

Doing the Right Thing

You can do the sacrifice for 3 days after the Hari Raya Haji prayer. One cow is for 7 people. We are following the footstep and practice of Prophet Abraham (Nabi Ibrahim)

You have to read out the names of 7 people who shared the cow and then the niat and takbir.

The knife must be sharp so the cow does not suffer.

Celebrating Hari Raya Haji

The Cocos Islander Community will be celebrating Hari Raya Haji on November 8, 2008 like any other Muslims throughout the world. However not many will do the korban or slaughtering of the goat or ox. The Cocos Islander Community would normally slaughter the chicken and prepare the 'Rasul' dish for the prayer ceremony. The Rasul dish would normally consists of the yellow rice and Tandori type of chicken in herbs. It has very nice taste. Selamat Hari Raya Idul Adha
