Wedding Ceremony

'Tarik Lipat' is performed during a wedding between the bridegroom and his father in law and a witness. The witness holds a piece called Tarik Lipat made from a young coconut leave. Both of them have to pull the leave. It is supposed to end all enminity and whatever obstacles that may come it the future. Its origin is unknown. It could have come from Java or Sumatera but it is now a Cocos Islander cultural heritage.
