Rogue Traders
They were sometimes called the rogue traders and I asked an Australian from Sydney whom I met at Bandar Seri Begawan in a tour to the water village at Bandar what the word 'rouge' really means. Were they really that bad or were they smart traders, who bear no nonsense as they had to face with upsrising and opposition from the locals that they had to subdue? Hare mission to Banjarasim was to subdue the uprising at the request of the Sultan of Banjarmasin. The rogue traders had been the pillar of the British Empire in the East before the Empire takes over until the coutries that they had ruled, achieved their Independence in the middle of the 19the Century in the case of Malaya 1957 and North Borneo, 1963.
